What you are looking at
Manufactured homes are long and low, and this one fills the frame from end to end. The new siding is a slate gray lap profile with matching gray corner trim, and light-colored skirting runs along the base.
The sheathing matters. A solid layer behind the siding gives it a flat, even surface to fasten to, which is how the long walls stay straight.
The end wall facing the street has a bay window, and the back has a wood entry deck with steps. The close view along the wall shows the lap lines running straight down the full length of the home.
Mature trees shade the lot, and a small shed sits next to the home.
Vinyl siding on a long wall has to be hung so each panel can expand and contract with temperature, which is why the nails are left just loose enough for the panels to slide. Over a run this long, that detail is what keeps the siding from buckling in summer heat.
