Siding in Cold Spring, Minnesota

Siding gets less attention than the roof until a panel cracks or a seam lets go. We look at every wall, explain whether you need a repair or a full residing, and put the whole job in writing, trim and soffit included.

What we find on Cold Spring siding

Hail leaves round cracks and punctures in vinyl, concentrated on the walls that faced the storm.
Trees and shade near the Sauk chain keep walls damp, and damp walls grow algae and can rot the trim behind the siding.
On older homes, siding comes off the first time in decades, which is a chance to fix the house wrap and flashing under it.

Siding cost in Cold Spring

$12,000 to $38,000 for most projects

Most Cold Spring siding projects cost $12,000 to $38,000, depending on the size of the house and the material. A small ranch in standard vinyl is near the low end; a large two-story in steel or LP SmartSide is near the high end.

Soffit, fascia and trim go on the same written quote. If hail or wind damaged the siding, an insurance claim may cover part or all of the project.

Repair or replace

Deciding between patching and residing

A few cracked panels can usually be swapped if the profile and color are still made. If not, or if the damage reaches several walls, residing is the honest answer. When hail did it, matching becomes a claim question, so we document every wall.

We install vinyl, steel and LP SmartSide. Whichever you choose, we check the sheathing and house wrap behind the old siding and fix problems before the new panels go up.

Color and matching

Why color matching is harder than it sounds

Siding fades with sun. A panel that has hung on a south wall for ten years does not look like one from the same box today, even in the same color name. If only some walls need replacing, we bring samples and compare them outdoors, because indoor light hides the difference.

When a match is not possible, residing the whole house usually looks better than a patchwork, and if the damage came from a storm, matching is a point to raise with the adjuster.

Trim and finish

Soffit, fascia and trim are part of the look

The siding is most of what you see, but trim frames it. Corners, window casings, fascia and soffit finish the job and keep water out of the joints. We quote them with the siding so the house looks done when we leave.

Corner posts and J-channel sized to the new siding.
Soffit with vents so the attic keeps breathing.
Window and door trim sealed and flashed.

Siding in Cold Spring: your questions

How much does siding cost in Cold Spring?

Most projects cost $12,000 to $38,000, depending on house size and material. We measure on site and give you a written quote.

Can you match siding that is a few years old?

Sometimes. If the profile and color are still manufactured, yes, and we bring samples to compare outdoors. If not, and a storm caused the damage, matching becomes part of the claim discussion.

What materials do you offer?

Vinyl, steel and LP SmartSide. We go over upkeep, cost and look so you can choose for your house.

Can the roof and siding be done together?

Yes, and it often makes sense when both are aging or both were hit by the same storm. It means one crew schedule and one cleanup.

Is siding noisy or cold in winter?

Siding is a weather barrier and not an insulator by itself, though insulated products exist. We go over options during the visit.

Can I finance siding?

Financing is available on approved credit for many projects, and we explain terms in the written proposal.
