What you are looking at
The house has gray vertical siding, white window trim and a chimney chase clad in matching siding. The shingle color is a deep charcoal with fine lighter granules.
The lead photo runs along the eave: new shingles over the edge and a mesh guard covering the gutter below. Guards keep leaves and seeds out of the gutter while letting water through.
The back of the house has an elevated deck with gray railings and stairs down to the yard. One roof edge photo looks straight down on it, with the gutter running just above the deck boards.
Out front, the photos look across a street of split-level homes in a mix of colors.
The chimney chase on the front is clad in the same gray vertical siding as the walls, with a metal cap on top, and the new shingles run up to its base. Split-entry homes put the front door between levels, and this one has a short walk to a white storm door with the upper windows above it.
Owens Corning puts a woven SureNail strip in the nailing zone of each Onyx Black Duration shingle, which is how the shingle earns its 130 mph wind rating with four nails. Nails that hold through a Woodbury summer storm are the same nails that keep wind-driven snow from lifting an edge in January.
